Job Description:
Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who thrives on accuracy, efficiency, and contributing to a dynamic team environment. As an Accountant I, you’ll play a vital role in managing the park’s financial operations, from daily reconciliation to budget assistance and compliance. Your analytical skills and commitment to excellence will ensure smooth financial processes that support the park's operations and enhance visitor experiences.
In this role, you’ll oversee cash management, vendor payments, and financial reporting while ensuring regulatory compliance. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with reservation systems, track park entry permits, and assist in preparing financial statements. Your contributions will directly support our mission of providing outstanding recreational opportunities and preserving Nebraska’s natural beauty.

JOB DUTIES:
• Reconcile daily park income and manage cash operations.
• Prepare and process daily deposits.
• Oversee Park entry permit sales and management.
• Manage vendor payments and ensure timely processing.
• Ensure compliance with credit card payment systems and related regulations.
• Utilize online reservation systems and related software for financial tracking.
• Compile and analyze activity income reports.
• Perform audit functions and other financial tasks as assigned.
• Prepare and review financial statements: Compile and analyze financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
• Ensure compliance with regulations: Interpret and apply federal/state laws and regulations to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting: Analyze financial data to identify trends and prepare reports for decision-making.
• Maintain financial records: Post data to ledgers, journals, and worksheets to establish and maintain accurate records.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.
Pay Range: 17.561 - 25.887 (Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting theory and double entry accounting concepts and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), accounting systems, word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs, and database management.
- Methods of filing and maintaining accounting records.
- Gathering and compiling data into spreadsheets and databases.
- Using mathematical methods or formulas to compare and analyze data, developing and applying equations and/or formulas, and compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report.
- Ability to learn and apply GAAP practices and standards, and the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, regulations and procedures of an accounting system.
- Classify accounting transactions, maintain, and reconcile accounts, extract data from established accounts and prepare accounting reports and financial statements.
- Review accounting documents for completeness and conformance with specific requirements and to take the appropriate corrective action when necessary.
- Compute and compile financial data involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions.
