Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant will maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization by applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role will work with the Controller and Accounting Manager in overseeing Aspen Skiing Company General Ledger accounts. This position reports to the Assistant Corporate Controller.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $69,000 to 83,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities

Reconcile and resolves differences on various bank account and balance sheet accounts
Process and manages daily revenues
Provide accounting information to managers and others within the company; explaining accounting transactions; resolving accounting issues and discrepancies
Manage and work with the Finance team on capital projects which includes processing and set-up of fixed assets
Manage specific balance sheet accounts by monthly reconciliations, entries and reviews
Review monthly financial statements and investigate discrepancies and errors
Provide critical analysis and resolutions on Aspen Skiing Company accounting problems via mathematical solutions
Influence the business via written communication, specifically email
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, accounting or business focus preferred
Five years previous accounting experience required
1 plus year/s of Oracle Enterprise (JDE) experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient knowledge of software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Proficient knowledge of Concur Software preferred
Ability to understand Microsoft Excel Macros preferred
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
Ability to work collaboratively & effectively with cross-functional leaders and their teams
Ability to quickly adapt to changes in processes, customer flow, environments, and tasks
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift, executing repetitive movements.
No adverse or hazardous conditions
Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push, or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
