The City of Seward is recruiting for Seasonal Campground Attendants
This position is responsible for providing general customer service, assisting guests with camping reservations, ensuring compliance with camping regulations, and cleaning park and campground facilities. Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

DETAILED WORK DUTIES:

  • Provides exceptional customer service, answers phone calls, resolves customer inquiries, and schedules/modifies camping reservations.
  • Provides general information and hospitality to campers regarding local amenities, events, and activities.
  • Conducts routine compliance checks, enforces camping regulations, notifies users of violations, and employs conflict resolution techniques as needed.
  • Cleans Park grounds and buildings, including restrooms, pavilions, and other facilities.
  • Picks up litter and empties refuse containers.
  • Operates light vehicles and various hand tools.
  • Cleans and maintains tools and equipment used on the job.
  • Completes various reports, work orders, and related documents.
  • Assists with preparing for and cleaning up after special events.
  • Follows safe work practices.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and some experience working with the public required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and ability:

  • Department policies and procedures. 
  • Objectives of public outdoor recreation, human behavior and mental and physical hygiene as applied to parks and campground recreational maintenance.
  • Customer service.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform basic mathematical computations.
  • File incident reports and collection sheets.
  • Multi-task and prioritize work. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, campground patrons and the general public. 
  • Valid driver’s license

  • hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of maintenance equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and balance, talk and hear, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and sometimes lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is performed mostly outdoors. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to odors, noise, heat, cold, wetness and humidity, and occasionally exposed to other adverse conditions including dim lighting, dust, toxic agents, electrical currents, and heavy machinery.
