Job Title: DON (Director of Nursing) - Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)**

Job Summary:

A Director of Nursing (DON) in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) oversees the delivery of high-quality nursing care, ensuring compliance with regulations, staffing, and operational standards. The DON is responsible for leading the nursing team, ensuring optimal patient outcomes, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for residents with varying levels of care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the nursing staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing skilled nursing care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and other healthcare professionals to develop and maintain individualized care plans for residents.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, quality of care, and ensure continuous improvement initiatives to enhance resident health and satisfaction.
  • Oversee medication management, treatment planning, and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate care levels are provided to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
  • Manage and maintain accurate clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding patient safety, reporting of incidents, and adherence to healthcare standards.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and collaboration among staff to ensure high standards of care are met.
  • Serve as a liaison between the nursing team, administration, and external regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs to enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial management related to nursing operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Certification:
    • Certified Director of Nursing (CDON) or Certified in Gerontology preferred.
  • Experience: Previous leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) required
