Job Description

Federal Ammunition is seeking a Material Handling Associate to add to our Receiving department on Weekend nights. The incumbent will be asked to safely transport materials between locations in a timely manner to ensure a continued flow of raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods.

SHIFT: 7pm - 7am Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and every other Thursday.

Training shift will be 7am-7pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Thursday.

STARTING WAGE is $22.85/hour (+ $1.60 shift premium) with the first 90 day increase to $24.97 plus $1.60 shift premium and additional increases every 90 days based upon performance, up to $32.07 plus $1.60 shift premium

Duties for the position include:

  • Accurately document and receive raw materials and supplies into the warehouse and place in proper storage location, observing accepted stacking heights.

  • Accurately document and transfer product within the warehouse using RF technology.

  • Fill inventory pull requests by pulling materials from designated locations, labeling as required, and delivering to production, complying with instructions as noted on inventory pull request.

  • Update inventory records for receipts, issues, transfers using proper Microsoft MAX transaction.

  • Receive, process and deliver all MRO type purchases to proper destination.

  • Prepare vendor returns for shipment including proper documentation and transaction processing.

  • Unload vendor trucks or common carriers.

  • Participate in cycle count activities as required.

  • Maintain equipment and working area in a safe, clean and orderly condition.

  • Observe all applicable rules and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to the Group Leader or Supervisor.

  • Maintain a productivity level that ensures on-time delivery of products to internal or external customers.

  • Provide assistance to other associates in work area.

  • Be willing to move to other areas when workload permits.

  • Help coordinate materials and supplies flow to meet priority scheduling.

  • Maintenance forklifts, Radio Frequency devices weekly.

  • Maintain acceptable accuracy rate

  • Operate UPS PC and printer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Previous Material Handling experience

  • Forklift Operators License

  • Capability of driving a motorized cart

  • Good numerical recognition and comprehension

  • Ability to function effectively within a work team

  • Excellent productivity and quality history

  • Ability to use RF scanners for transactions

  • Ability to load and unload trailers

  • Ability to use safe and efficient storage and retrieval methods

  • Ability to learn essential shipping operations including order picking and finished goods transfers to the warehouse

  • Computer experience, or willing to learn (basics of Microsoft AX, Outlook, Excel)

  • Excellent housekeeping skills

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to make adjustment to daily workload changes, interruptions and on-demand overtime situations

  • Ability to work overtime as required including some holidays

  • Ability to multitask and organize workload, as well as manage time off

  • Ability to understand what is needed to meet Materials Department demands

Physical Requirements: 95% Constant moving, driving forklift, getting on and off forklift as many as 100 times per shift, pushing or pulling hand trucks with loads up to 1000 lbs., ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly, stooping, bending, walking. Near vision, far vision, depth perception and field of vision for safety. 5% paperwork and equipment maintenance.


Mental Requirements: High attention to safety; Reading and math comprehension; Good memory; Ability to read a basic floor layout map; Accurately prioritize the needs and wants on floor to keep it running smoothly and efficiently.


Equipment Used: Fork lift and mechanical sweeper and scrubber.

Working Environment: Work environment is a factory. Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, vibration, moving objects, mechanical equipment hazards, and chemicals. Work is most often done with and around others as an individual in this position. Supervisor and Line Lead are available for questions. Overtime is required on an as needed basis.
