Principal Motor Control System Engineer

Summary


At specialized we are committed to innovate and provide the best performance bicycle that benefit and improve our riders supporting our purpose to pedal the planet forward and contribute toward green environment. To strengthen our newly setup e-Bike electronics team in Singapore which working closely with team based in Europe, we are seeking for experience and passionate Principal Motor control system engineer that would be great if obsessed specifically with development of bicycles or electric mobility solution. In this role you will be working closely with cross function team such as electronics HW, Embedded SW, Mechanical, university partner, supplier to enhance or introduce new Motor control algorithm of the e-bike’s drive unit.

How you will make a difference


• Perform System modelling using first principle differential equations, transfer functions, state-space, multi-physics models (Simscape/Stateflow).
• Apply classic and advanced control/estimation theory and potentially machine learning theory to develop control and estimation functions.
• Collaborate with university research partner to further explore efficient motor control of e-bike drive unit.
• Evaluate algorithm design feasibility follow by providing support of software implementation and integration by embedded SW team.
• Having good knowledge of FuSa (Functional Safety) motor control feature as well as MCU based Motor drive circuitry.
• Perform motor verification on the Motor dyno with the focus on the fundamental Motor control system robustness evaluation.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Act as subject matter expert (SME) in specific domain, disseminating knowledge, guiding and mentor engineers in methodology, best practice, and standards.

What do you need to win


• Master or PhD in control system or relevant engineering
• Minimum 12 years of proven work experience & preferably working in R&D organisation of consumer electronics, consumer appliance or automotive product.
• Singaporean or Singapore PR candidate would be priority.
• Recognize expertise and proven track record of commercial experience of developing motor control software for complex electromechanical systems (e.g. PMSMs) within automotive, aerospace, or marine vehicle systems.
• Experience and proficient with model-based programming (e.g., embedded C or Matlab / Simulink, Embedded Coder)
• Experience with EMag modelling using tools such as ANSY Motor-CAD
• Having sound knowledge of power electronics / inverters (control)
• Knowledge of JIRA/Confluence or knowledge in similar Agile Project Management tool
• Ability to multitask effectively among different projects in a fast-paced environment.
• For a highly experienced candidate, we expect excellent technical guidance skills and the ability to influence the work of others.
