Job Description

Our Anoka, MN location, where Federal Ammunition is produced, is seeking a Material Handling Associate to add to our Distribution Center. The Federal Ammunition location has a rich history in the community and has been operating since 1922.

SHIFT: 3pm-1am Monday-Thursday, overtime as needed

Training may take place on another shift.

STARTING WAGE is $22.85/hr (+ applicable shift premium) with potential increases every 90 days based on performance up to $32.07/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Accurately document and receive finished good into the warehouse and place in proper storage location, observing accepted stacking heights.

· Accurately document and transfer product within the warehouse.

· Fill customer orders by picking product from designated locations, labeling as required, attaching packing lists, and complying with instructions as shown on pick list.

· Pick, pack, label and ship small shipments using computer manifest system and conform to all regulations related to shipping small parcels.

· Load customer trucks or common carriers, making even distribution of weight and within load limit.

· Participate in cycle count activities as required.

· Maintain equipment and working area in a safe, clean and orderly condition.

· Observe all applicable rules and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to the Group Leader or Distribution Manager.

· Maintain a productivity level that ensures on-time delivery of products to internal or external customers.

· Be willing to move to other areas when workload permits.

· Help coordinate materials and supplies flow to meet priority scheduling.

· Maintenance forklifts/jeeps, Radio Frequency devices weekly.

· Maintain acceptable error rate

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or GED

· 1 year applicable warehouse experience preferred; helpful experience includes shipping, receiving, inventory control or applicable order filling experience

· Previous forklift experience helpful, but not necessary

· Forklift Operators License is required (can be licensed after job placement)

· Capability of driving a motorized cart, forklift

· Good numerical recognition and comprehension

· Ability to perform RF barcode scanning and computer entry

· Ability to function effectively within a work team

· Ability to act as trainer in order filling in Finished Good (FG)

· Excellent productivity and quality history, including move sheets, start times and end of day productivity

· Responsible for helping with inventory management, order pulling accuracies and organization in work areas

· Ability to load and unload trailers

· Ability to use safe and efficient storage and retrieval methods

· Ability to learn part case room and/or inbound or outbound UPS/FDX activities

· Excellent safety record

· Excellent housekeeping skills.

· Respect for Federal and carrier property and facilities, including forklifts, FG, raw materials, WIP, racking, etc.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

· Ability to make adjustment to daily workload changes, interruptions and on-demand overtime situations

· Ability to multitask and organize workload, as well as manage time off, with respect to seasonal company needs

· Ability to work overtime, as required and often unscheduled, including weekends and holidays

· Willing and able to adjust to internal and external customer order levels

· Ability to understand what is needed to meet Materials Department demands

Physical Requirements: Constant moving 70% of the time. Reaching, handling, lifting, moving, pushing and pulling cases weighing from 16 pounds to 70 pounds. Detecting of packaging for quality defects. Far vision for operation of forklift or other mobile equipment. Near vision for accurate reading of sku numbers and labeling. Normal depth perception for safe movement of pallets and forklift operation. Stooping and bending into and out of rack locations for case accessibility and lot number recognition and recording. 10% documentation of paperwork; 10% material handling; 10% equipment operation and maintenance.

Mental Requirements: High attentiveness for safety and detection of potential quality problems. Reading and math comprehension to understand and interpret order, location and Bill of Lading information and to complete carrier load reporting. Understanding of pallet configuration, building and counts. Interpersonal communication skills to problem-solve and to function effectively as part of a work team. Flexibility to move between job requirements and to handle tasks simultaneously.

Equipment Used: Operation of jeeps and forklifts, RF devices, computer, calculators and other essential equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment: All positions require the use of hard-toed shoes and other PPE according to safety policies and/or standard operating procedures.

Working Environment: Overtime is frequently needed to meet business needs. Materials floor environment is subject to constant exposure to noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical equipment hazards. Exposure to a wide variety of chemicals possible depending on assigned area. Work is most often done with and around others and as part of work teams. Back-up from co-workers or supervisor is always available.
