Beach and Pool Lifeguard Positions

Part-time, School-Year and Summer Hours Available

Pay will be based on Experience and Certifications as follows:



  • Pool Lifeguard $18 to $23 pay range

  • Ocean Lifeguard $23-$25 pay range

  • Lead Lifeguard $25-$30 pay range



Responsibilities/DutiesΒ include but are not limited to:




  • Perform beach and pool lifeguarding duties.




  • Perform emergency water rescues.




  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies and safety hazards.




  • Administer first aid and CPR as necessary.




  • Operate and maintain lifeguard and emergency rescue equipment efficiently.




  • Enforce applicable beach rules and regulations.




  • Respond to inquiries from campers, staff, and the general public.




  • Provide clear and concise oral and written communications.




  • Carry out oral and written instructions.




  • Mediate conflicts between campers and report any crucial concerns to senior staff.




  • Promptly notify an administrator or senior staff when there is reason to believe a camper is at risk or in danger due to such issues as program failure, bullying, sexual harassment/misconduct, depression, or suicide ideation.




  • Follow and enforce personnel guidelines as outlined in summer Personnel Policies.




  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:




  • Previous professional lifeguarding experience (1-3 years).




  • Experience working in an educational environment or summer camp setting.




  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of international campers, staff, and faculty.




  • Ability to establish cooperative relationships calmly and tactfully.




  • Strong communication and customer service skills.




  • Possession of effective verbal and written communication techniques.





Required Qualifications:




  • Minimum 18 years of age.




  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.




  • Ability to swim with endurance and proficiency at a level necessary to perform assigned duties.




  • Lifeguard Certification Red Cross or equivalent




  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer




  • Title 22 first aid training (Emergency Medical Technician certification preferred)
