Summary:
Responsible to aid in project cost control and material acquisitions in accordance with industry standards, regulatory agencies and company philosophy.


Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a company representative in developing and maintaining positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Pick up/transport/deliver supplies and materials as needed.
  • Maintain driving log book
  • Research and acquire materials for projects.
  • Shop laborer duties**

Other Tasks:
  • Assist in preparing status reports on current contracts/projects.
  • Monitor and help ensure safety standards on current projects.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
  • Assist other projects staff as requested.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably can also perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Must possess a North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certificate. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred for this position, but not required.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
  • One year related experience or training specific to work in construction.
  • Must possess a valid state driver license with a clean driving record and have up to date medical certification or willing to get medical card.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of cost control and purchasing processes and ability to apply to work in heavy civil construction.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office software to record and track data.
  • Some knowledge of and the ability to apply first aid.
  • Ability to analyze information to choose the most suitable materials.
  • Ability to professionally represent the company to suppliers, venders, customers, regulatory agencies and the public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in writing.
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate verbally with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
  • Ability to meet materials schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment in prioritizing and carrying out duties.
  • Ability to do mathematical computations related to purchasing and cost control.
  • Ability to operate a flatbed, one-ton truck to transport materials to project sites.
  • Ability to wear protective clothing, as needed on project sites.
