JOB DESCRIPTION: ALPINE ACADEMY TRAINER

 POSITION SUMMARY


 


The Ski or Snowboard Trainer is part of the Evergreen Alpine Academy Team. This role is mainly responsible for executing instructor training courses, either ski or snowboard.


This role will crossover into the Evergreen International Ski School. The successful applicant will have to work as a Snowsports Instructor when required to, and when there is no Alpine Academy trainings. 


 


POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


 



  • Responsible for the guidance and evolution of snowsports technique and teaching methodology.

  • Improve, maintain, and adhere to all operational, safety and risk management procedures ensuring safe and efficient operation of Evergreen Programs.

  • Educate, teach, develop, train the instructor courses with high quality in safe matters, guiding to the students to the vision of the company of sustainability, training good professionals for our snowsports industry.


 


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:


Due to the many variables that affect business operations, occasionally, employees may be asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility, when admin staff deems it necessary. This may include performing in any subordinate position.


 


GENERAL DUTIES


Daily:



  • Manage students goal setting/evaluation procedures.

  • Plan, design, assign and organize programs and lessons.

  • Conduct (detect/correct) student video analysis.

  • Organize people into groups and assign lessons.

  • Interact with clients prior to lesson start times.

  • Motivate and encourage fellow students, trainers, and instructors.

  • Drive to training venue and be able to pick up guests. Maintain company vehicle in good conditions.

  • Maintain a high level of customer service and ensure that Evergreen Alpine Academy is presented in the best possible light.

  • Assess students skiing abilities and use proper terrain and lesson plans for effective learning.

  • Tailor each lesson based on the assessment and the students’ goals and attend to special needs.

  • Provide a fun and interactive learning environment that will exceed any client’s goals/expectations.

  • Recognize changing snow conditions and understand how they may affect your approach.

  • Maintain class control while out on the mountain and promote safety rules and regulations.

  • Maintain a safe learning environment related to the student.

  • Understand emergency procedures in case of accidents, including accident report completion.

  • Provide reports, course results and pictures updates to social media, marketing, or line manager when its needed or demanded.

  • Maintain and improve standards and services to ensure exceptional member guest experiences.

  • Implement Evergreen policy and operating procedures.

  • Assist with guest complaints, general incidents, accidents, and trouble shooting.

  • Resolve member/ guest problems in an efficient, courteous, and consistent manner in relation to operational procedure and company policy.


 


Weekly:



  • To ensure that the EAA has a clear and well thought through strategy for the development of ski instructor courses and to oversee its ongoing review and implementation.

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure the smooth operation of all EAA programs.

  • Coordinate and conduct training sessions for both new and returning instructors and support them on the slopes throughout the season.

  • Maintain inventory records of all related program equipment (course material, radios, video cameras, tool kits, etc.).

  • Provide reports, course results and pictures updates to social media, marketing, or line manager when its needed or demanded.

  • Complete the paperwork required and defined by the instructor associations.


 


Seasonal:



  • Establish instructor evaluation and performance metrics.

  • Assist with Special Events, other departments when required.

  • Overview and schedule seasonal courses layout.

  • To research and provide advice on teaching styles and to contribute to the development of coaching knowledge (snowboard instructor curriculum and coaching course content).

  • Encourage high employee morale and loyalty.

  • Understand emergency procedures in case of accidents, including accident report completion.

  • To create and uphold a winning performance culture.


 


Prerequisites:



  • Level 3 ski or snowboard certification

  • Be a customer service leader.

  • Extensive Snow Sports Industry Experience.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.

  • Must be reliable, well mannered, punctual, and personable.

  • Ability to multi-task and cope with pressure.

  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English. Japanese or Chinese is an addition.

  • Ability to assess and build plans for individuals.
