U.S. Corporates – Credit Analyst, Senior Director – Technology/Hardware

 

Fitch’s U.S. & Canada Corporates Rating team is seeking a Senior Director to work in either the Hardware/IT Services or Software team within the broader Technology, Media and Telecommunications team in our New York, Chicago or Toronto office. This role entails managing a team of 4-6 analysts and also serving as primary analyst on high-profile issuers in the hardware sector. Qualitative credentials will weigh meaningfully in the selection of the candidate. A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity is critical, along with a willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity. Fitch is a team-oriented work environment, so excellent management, leadership, team development and communication skills are essential, as is a high productivity work-ethic and results oriented mindset.

We’ll Count on You To:

  • Have direct managerial responsibility for a team of 4-6 analysts within a group covering approximately 90 public and private debt issuers, including investment-grade and speculative-grade rated companies;
  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit quality of companies in the Hardware/IT services or Software sector;
  • Articulate Fitch’s credit views and sector outlook in meetings, conference calls, and industry roundtables, as well as in written research, in an engaging and dynamic manner;
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the broader TMT team, and contribute to the overall ethos of the U.S. and Canada Corporates rating team in a manner that prioritizes and advances Fitch’s strategic goals;
  • Be a highly visible presence for external stakeholders in the ratings process, including industry management teams, private equity sponsors, buyside and sell-side analysts, banks and other arrangers, and the media.
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates, as well as other related credit groups.

 

What You Need to Have:

  • 10+ years relevant experience in a capital markets and/or credit analysis role;
  • Knowledge of the Hardware/Technology or Software sector;
  • Experience managing, mentoring and developing people and teams;
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment;
  • A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity and a life-long learning mindset;
  • A demonstrated willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • CFA preferred.

  • Has a strong pattern of effective team leadership and the ability to proactively and successfully interact with various stakeholders, both within and outside of the organization;
  • Has demonstrated an ability to develop talent and foster potential of junior analysts; 
  • Has a professional background in corporate credit, including well-developed financial statement analysis and financial modeling skills;
  • Understands the functioning of the debt capital markets;
  • Has a network of relationships within the debt capital markets and/or TMT sector.

FOR NEW YORK ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $175,000 and $225,000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.  Base pay is one part of Fitch’s total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
