Job Description:

JOB DUTIES: This position works under the direction of the Park Superintendent. Supervise and perform technical and practical work supporting the management, interpretation, development, maintenance, and operation of the Outdoor Heritage Education Complex. Supervise and assist in the development and implementation of programs and activities associated with the park's naturalist program. Carry out assigned tasks related to the operation and maintenance of park activities, facilities, or grounds to include the spray park. Hire, train, schedule and supervise seasonal workforce for the above listed areas. Work closely with scouting groups, special needs groups, organizations and special events held at the park. Publicize Park areas and the Agency's mission, program, and goals by means of personal appearance before interested groups. Assist in handling administrative and data collections functions. Maintain records and prepare appropriate reports. Perform related work as assigned or required.


Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Ability to plan, manage, analyze, and evaluate park programs. Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and application of park and cultural resources management and conservation. Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain community and public relations with business, special interest groups, and state, local and federal agencies. Knowledge of park operations, administration, and financial management. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to supervise subordinate staff and to enforce park rules and regulations.
