POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sports Program Director will oversee the organization and running of the facility's sports and non-sports programs, including leagues, tournaments, and any other local events or programs held. They will oversee the setup and organization of the venue's athletic programs including sports camps, clinics, sports specific instruction, tournaments and any other programs held. The Athletic Program Director will work closely with the individual leaders of each program, rights holders as well as other internal departments in order to successfully accomplish these responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Plan, develop, and execute the facility's sport programs, camps, leagues, tournaments and local programming events
- Manage ongoing facility schedule
- Develop programming to target various markets ranging from corporate, group, adult/youth/family, and special interest groups
- Develop and manage program and sporting event budgets
- Create and develop sales initiatives and goals for leagues, tournaments, special events, etc.
- Generate sales through networking, building relationships, and creating strategic alliances.
- Track and report weekly sales totals
- Oversee all aspects of programs and special activities
- Hire, train, manage, and motivate sports programming and event staff, provided direct oversight to camp, sports programming, and local event Team members
- Effectively coordinating the program/camp registration process
- Tracking and reporting weekly camp / clinic / tournament/ event and attendance data to appropriate Team Members
- Using stakeholder feedback to implement programming improvement initiatives
- Offering valuable programming/camp input to help us strive for maximum utilization
- Effectively coordinating with the Marketing Team to support their programming/camp/events campaign efforts
- Serving as one of the main points of contact for all programming/camp/sport/local events communication
- Effectively collaborating with the Operations Team to ensure consistent & accurate programming processes/information.
- Assisting with ensuring that service standards are being met in all aspects of the customer experience for programming, local events and camps
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) during scheduled shifts
- All other duties as instructed by Management
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- Proven success in generating community interests and involvement through sports programming and event planning
- Experience in youth and amateur sports as a consumer
- Proven experience in the successful scheduling and programming of multiple sporting events at one location during the same time frame
- Experience and success in customer service and programming administration
- Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency.
- Proven ability to evaluate team member performance based on established standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have proven track record of developing, marketing and selling recreational programs
- Must have experience in programming setup & execution operations
- Must have knowledge of recreational/facility management software programs
- Must have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving negotiating skills
- Must be a team player
- Must have verbal and written communications skills
- Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours)
- Must possess current CPR/First Aid certifications or must be willing to obtain them within a specified period of time
- Experience coaching/teaching both youth and adult sports
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds' waist high
- Facility has intermittent noise
