POSITION SUMMARY:
Winter Park is currently hiring for Snowcat Operator/ Snowmaking Support positions. These specialized snowcat operators function as the logistics crew for our snowmaking team during the early season. Once snowmaking production is complete, these operators work on our slope grooming team for the remainder of the season. This position requires extensive physical work and precision snowcat operation in the transportation of snowmaking equipment. A good attitude, solid work ethic and problem-solving skills are required to be successful in this position.
This position has potential for year-round employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Snowmaking duties include:
Pre and post operational checks of snowcats and other equipment
Communicating any equipment issues with the heavy equipment mechanics
Receive daily assignments from the Slope Maintenance managers/supervisors
Understand the daily snowmaking objectives
Safe operation of all equipment
Transport fan guns and other snowmaking equipment with a snowcat, in such a way as to prevent damage to the snowcat or the snowmaking equipment
Build snow platforms for staging of snowmaking equipment
Keep fan guns clear of snow and on top of the snow surface
Maintain safe travel routes for snowmaking crews
Doze snowmaking piles as necessary
Work with snowmaking crews to setup trails with hoses/guns
Assist with the operation of snowmaking equipment
Track pack trails prior to snowmaking production
Other snowmaking duties as assigned
Maintain a positive attitude throughout the season
Grooming duties include:
Pre and post operational checks of snowcats and other equipment
Participation in nightly team meeting
Understand the nightly snow management objectives
Safe operation of slope grooming equipment
Completion of dozing and grooming of assigned trails
Repairing/communicating any trail issues such as rocks or thin spots
Completion of other snowcat projects as assigned
Fueling of equipment using safe practices
Maintaining accurate logs on equipment used
Communicating any equipment issues with the heavy equipment mechanics
Housekeeping of work areas/shop areas/equipment
Performance of other duties as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Valid, non-restricted motor vehicle driverβs license
Minimum 2 years of snowcat experience, strongly preferred
Snowmaking experience, preferred
Skiing/ riding ability, preferred
Reliable transportation to/from work at hours outside normal business hours
Punctuality and ability to meet assigned work schedule
Ability to work night hours, weekends and holidays
First aid training, preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is required to work evenings and/or overnight, weekends and holidays while in operation.
Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 60 pounds on an occasional basis, and a minimum of 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
Ability to work for extended periods of time while seated.
Manual dexterity to operate hand tools such as shovels and basic mechanicβs tools.
Ability to work outside in ANY AND ALL weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
hourly pay range: $20.50-$24.50 based on experience
