This park near Albany is a quiet oasis for boating, paddling and hiking. It's made up of a north and south parcel, with parking lots at each. The Luckiamute River meanders through the 615-acre north tract, flowing into the Willamette River from the west and just a stone's throw from the Santiam River confluence from the east. Travelers paddling the Willamette Water Trail can camp at the boater-access-only site. Hikers can park at the North Trailhead and take the 3-mile North Unit Loop trail along a meadow and through a riparian hardwood forest of Oregon ash and bigleaf maple.

What you will do:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform, conduct and oversee a variety of tasks in order to protect, maintain, operate and repair state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems by using skills in building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance, as well as specialized program skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, utility infrastructure operation, park rule enforcement, etc.) related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs, properties within the Luckiamute Management Unit.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
OR
An Associate's degree or higher in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND Six (6) months of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping).
Special Requirements:
To be hired, you must have a criminal records and driving records check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.
You must have a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and throughout employment.

Experience giving direction concerning work procedures to individuals or teams composed of staff and volunteers in accomplishing a variety of tasks to achieve park operation goals.
Experience in safe use of tools, materials, and equipment associated with landscape, building, facility, trail and utility system maintenance.
Experience performing park facility maintenance tasks to complete basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and grounds keeping tasks. Including custodial duties, cleaning of public restroom and shower facilities.
Experience planning and completing small to medium size maintenance projects.
Experience in managing visitor services, including processing computerized reservations, handling transactions such as collecting and reconciling fees and completing deposits.
Experience with patrolling, enforcing rules and regulations, and responding effectively to emergencies and customer complaints within a park setting.
Experience in developing and delivering interpretative presentations on natural, cultural, or historic features, and assisting with educational programs and special events within a park setting.
Experience working in remote satellite parks in riverine environments.

The salary listed is at the non-PERS rate. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) eligible employees will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS. If you are not yet PERS eligible, the 6.95% pay increase and employee contribution will be effective upon PERS eligibility.
