Job Summary: Responsible for the day to day operations of the Mountain Host program with 15-25 direct reports. Directs, organizes, communicates and executes the strategy designed to deliver exceptional guest service on the mountain as well as in the base area.

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $20.54 - $26.71 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties

may be assigned:

  • Creates a warm and welcoming first impression of the overall resort through the use of staff and scheduling of staff. Ensures guests are greeted and assisted throughout the entire ski experience both in the base area and on the mountain from the beginning to the end of the day.
  • Works closely with a variety of departments including Patrol, Ski School, Resort Activities and Sales, Events, Security, Parking and Sales and Marketing to support and prioritize where staff can be best used to create exceptional service that “WOWs!” our guests.
  • Schedules and trains staff to work in designated locations based on guest traffic and makes sure Mountain Hosts are sharing accurate and relevant information.
  • Provides a presence & communication at designate “slow zones” throughout the mountain to ensure skier/riders are adhering to resort signage.
  • Travels on skis/snowboard throughout the mountain using designated routes to engage guests and provide education about safety as well as ways to inspire adventure.
  • Empowered to problem solve and fix guest problems on the spot.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner including the creation of staff schedule, payroll and approve of time cards, creating of job offers, and financial variance reports.
  • Has in depth knowledge about Palisades Tahoe, as well as Truckee and the Tahoe area information and shares with guests/employees to enhance the guests’ experience. Specifically these individuals will be able to prescribe how to access the appropriate level of ski slopes using our chair lift system.
  • Establishes process for distribution of resort information including grooming maps, trail maps, and other resort information and stays informed of resort events and activities and shares with team members as well as guests.
  • Manage a team of 15-25 employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Comply with Federal and California Labor law in all phases of the payroll and employment process; from hiring through termination, as well as all Company policies & procedures.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining labor budget. Check and manage payroll for overtime, compliance with labor model. Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Achieve continuous improvement in operational objectives by implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. Contribute information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
  • Establish, implement, and enforce safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as State & Federal laws.

  • Able to work well in a high volume, hectic environment, while maintaining composure when dealing with irate customers, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and courtesy.
  • Ski and/or snowboard ability must be at or above intermediate level.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact with others
  • Working knowledge of computers including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Must be capable of walking or standing 80% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50lbs. Must capable of occasionally squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing, able to climb ladders and shovel snow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

Equipment Used in Job: Snow tubes, POS, fencing, shovels, rakes, drills

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of supervisory experience

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree
