Job Description:

Ponca State Park is looking for an individual wanting to work in a beautiful state park setting and with a team dedicated to providing the public with outdoor recreational and educational opportunities. This position will oversee all facility and utility maintenance operations including the park’s very popular cabins, mini-lodges, visitor center, and other supporting facilities. JOB DUTIES:
• Facility Maintenance: Assist with the development and implementation of maintenance schedules for all park buildings, structures, specialized building systems (HVAC, security, fire, etc.), and other related operations. Perform skilled carpentry, plumbing, and electrical on all park facilities. Assist Regional Superintendent and Park Superintendents with onsite coordination and communication with contractors on major repairs, new construction, and project development.
• Road and Utility Maintenance: Troubleshoot and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to park wastewater treatment systems and water distribution system. Perform wintertime snow removal, parking lots and sidewalks.
• Groundskeeping: Assist Groundskeeper Leader as needed with oversight on maintenance and upkeep on parks grounds and landscapes.
• Personnel Management: Provide leadership to seasonal maintenance to ensure maintenance activities are done effectively, efficiently and safely. Assist Superintendent with periodic staff training on use
• Park Activities and Events: Assist Superintendent and other staff with logistical support and leadership on major park events such as the Missouri River Outdoor Expo.
• Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Provide leadership and oversight to maintenance schedules, routine inspections, troubleshooting, safe use, and repair work on all equipment.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance trade and one year of experience OR three years’ experience in skilled maintenance, construction or mechanical trades and experience leading/directing others in such work; experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

Other: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of advanced methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in building trades, maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to perform skilled work in the carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades and determine the materials and equipment necessary to repair building structures, equipment and fixtures,
  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, layout designs and specifications.
  • Perform work under temperature extremes (hot and cold); lift and move objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds; work in wet and dirty environments and work in cramped workspaces above and below ground level.
  • Knowledge of working with hazardous chemicals/compounds.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment with sufficient manual dexterity as required to perform duties described above.
  • Communicate with coworkers and the public.
