Job Summary:

Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Lunch Assistant, Youth Camp position is a part-time, non-benefitted and seasonal summer position for LCCC Life Enrichment program. This position assists and supports with lunch supervision during the Summer Education Experience for Kids (SEEK) and other youth camps.  This position supports and monitors students during the Lunch and recreation time providing student supervision, assistance, and ensures the safety of the children in the program.

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

 

Starting Date: Summer/2024.

Compensation:$11.29 per hour.

Responsibilities






Essential Functions:  – this position is Non-Exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

  • Attend mandatory orientation training prior to supporting the program
  • Support students and instructors with student lunch time management
  • Respond to student requests for assistance or questions
  • Assist instructors with organization of children to and from lunch areas
  • Of utmost importance, ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, injuries, or issues to the appropriate supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people, in one-to-one and small group settings. ability to communicate in an informative manner, effectively listen, and be able to handle escalating situations with concern and confidence
  • Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines, frequent interruptions, and some interpersonal pressure
  • The ability to deal effectively and professionally with children, staff and parents requires the skills of courtesy and tact. When decisions need to be made, must be able to act on own initiative while exercising sound judgment within established rules, guidelines, and processes and to also recognize when to involve assigned teacher or Program Manager
  • Ability to effectively and professionally execute the essential functions of this position with proven capabilities in establishing appropriate professional rapport, communicating with courtesy and tact, accurately determine other’s needs, collecting necessary information, and follow-through when requested
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Daily interaction with students, staff and parents to the youth programs require these skills to be successful
  • Attention to detail, follow-through, and positive interactions with others are essential skills that impact our students and parents. Success with these skills build a foundation for student success and brings our students back

Physical/Mental Demands: 

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds








Qualifications






Minimum:

  • Must be a minimum of 15 years or older

 Preferred:

  • Experience working with children
  • Prior experience in an educational setting
