Job Description:

PAY RANGE: $26.348 - 39.522

Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Join the Engineering and Operations team to help create a welcoming landscape for visitors to enjoy. As a surveyor, you will play a vital role in managing the state’s land assets. This permanent fulltime position will coordinate survey projects and agency survey database, ensuring compliance with land titles, deeds, and approved plans on agency projects.

JOB DUTIES:
• Prepares, and maintains survey database, plats, reports, records and correspondence for future projects and agency use.
• Supervises and participates in the preparation and examination of plats, maps, field notes, conveyances, and other documents necessary in the acquisition of right-of-way and associated easements.
• Abstracts records, surveys, deeds, and other relevant data to accumulate all possible information necessary to locate property monuments; coordinates the re-establishment of any corners not monumented in the original survey.
• Coordinates land surveys involving government corners, section corners and lot corners to determine sub-divisional and property lines for use in determining suitable descriptions for conveyance documents.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: High school education plus eight years surveying experience of which three years must be in a responsible position as a subordinate to a licensed land surveyor; or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, engineering or other approved curriculum from a school or college approved by the Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors plus four years of surveying practice in a responsible position. Registered as a land surveyor in Nebraska

Other: Valid driver’s license is required. Must spend time in the field and traveling in all types of weather.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to interpret technical data; prepare technical reports; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; supervise the work of others.
  • Skill in the use of computers, GIS, transits, and related surveying instruments.
