PART-TIME | SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The IT Tech Level 1 will act as first responder to guest and end user questions and issues. When these issues cannot be resolved alone, they will escalate to their management as necessary. When not responding to new issues, other duties will be assigned as necessary and to professionally develop the employee's skillsets. Overtime, evenings, holidays, and weekends are required on a regular basis (our primary business is busiest during these timeframes). This will be scheduled as far in advance as possible so employees can plan for it.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • First responder to guest and end user questions and issues while on duty.
  • Monitor, respond and solve help desk tickets. Escalate issues to next level as necessary
  • Work with other department as necessary (maintenance, security, electrical, etc) as necessary to see repairs through to the end. This might include replacing TV's, salto locks, digital signs, etc.
  • Build and deploy Windows laptops and desktops.
  • Software installations to include MS Office, Agilysys, SIriusware and any other approved software
  • Maintain inventory documentation as hardware is deployed or retired.
  • Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment inventory. As supplies get low it is up to technicians to flag these so replacements can be ordered.
  • Take direction from management in terms of deployments, installations or other relevant areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance at all times. Uniforms will be provided as well as name tags and these are to be worn at all times when interaction is possible with either a guest or an employee outside of the IT department.
  • Jay Peak, Inc encourages job sharing particularly during peak business periods. All employees are expected to report for duty and help in other departments when directed by their management.
  • Various equipment that the department is required to work on is outside. In addition, the area receives a very large amount of snowfall each year. When possible areas that need to be worked on are shoveled, however, it is expected that on occasion shoveling must be done. Proper attire for working outside should always be available at work. In the event that employee does not own this attire, it will be provided.
  • Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or unrelated to the original position.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certification from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

This position is computer intensive. The applicant is expected to feel comfortable working with software and hardware. At this level, high level networking experience is not required but a familiarity with how computers work together in a network environment is critical to the ultimate success in the position. Basic understanding of IP networking is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None are required to gain employment, however, employees in the position are encouraged to pursue certificates as desired. Training is provided both during and after hours. The during hours training is required; the after-hours is optional, and the employee will not be judged positively or negatively if they choose not to take advantage of out of office training opportunities.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Employee should be comfortable working with electronics and assembling/disassembling various electronic items. This is not limited strictly to just computers. TV's, fiber nodes, telephones, etc are all items that might need to be worked on. In addition, the department is responsible for maintaining the RFID gates that control skier access to the mountain. Being prepared to work outdoors on this equipment is a must.

Comfortable working alone is important.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The employee must frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements of this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally working near moving mechanical parts and exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The work environment surrounding this position is usually moderate.

RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi- level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area, and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Workdays and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
