Job Description:

DESCRIPTION: Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Enjoy working hard and learning new skills? Join the team at Platte River State Park to help create a welcoming landscape for visitors to enjoy. As a Maintenance Technician you will play a vital role in assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the park’s buildings, facilities, and infrastructure. Nebraska’s amazing wildlife, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation is waiting for you!


JOB DUTIES:
·Perform essential grounds, equipment, and facility maintenance.
· Mowing, watering, fertilizing, pruning, tree planting and removal, snow removal, road grading, noxious weed and insect control.
·Operate and maintain all machinery, equipment, and tools used in the performance of duties.
· Schedule, assign and coordinate the work assignments of grounds workers and special detail workers.
· Perform construction of new buildings and facilities.
· Assist with visitor services (i.e. permit sales, fee collection, and other programming).

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in lawn mowing, turf maintenance, hedge trimming, snow shoveling, gardening, farming, horticulture, landscaping, or groundskeeping. Must be at least 18 years of age and have driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of the operation of various types of equipment associated with grounds maintenance.

· Ability to operate and maintain equipment, hand tools, and powered tools essential for maintenance and repair work including chain saws, weed whips, mowers, tractors and trucks.

· Perform heavy physical labor and to work in adverse weather conditions.

· Communicate effectively with staff.
