Join the Fort Robinson State Park Leadership Team to help create a welcoming landscape for visitors to enjoy. Fort Robinson State Park is a historically rich and captivating environment that includes more than 22,000 acres of exquisite Pine Ridge scenery along with over 65 Historical Buildings on a 100-acre campus. This unique opportunity involves working alongside the Park Superintendent III in overseeing the Park’s grounds maintenance, landscaping operations, land management, & Livestock & Horse herd care. Nebraska’s amazing wildlife, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation is waiting for you!
JOB DUTIES:
• Campground & Grounds maintenance, cultural and natural resource management.
• Land Management that includes fencing and water infrastructure & Trail Maintenance over 22,000 acres.
• Assist with park pond and waterway management.
• Management of park trail rides, team driving, & livestock operations.
• Hire, train, and supervise staff in the related areas of responsibility.
• Ability to safely operate & maintain specialized equipment ie. Road Graders, Dozers, Skid Steers, Lifts, Excavators, Tractors, Dump Trucks, Fire Trucks and Tankers, etc.
• Maintenance & operation of parks vehicle fleet as well as ordering of tools, materials, and grounds equipment to include Mowers, Sprayers, Chain Saws, and ATV’s.
• Assist with community outreach and general public communications in the efforts of park operations, and promotion.
• Assist with other park activities and special events as needed.
• Assist with Public Safety Initiatives & Park Emergencies to include wildland fire fighting and storm watching, etc.
• Collect data, maintain records, prepare reports, collect fees, ensure staff/visitor safety.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND two years related experience including one year in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and interest in park management, principles and techniques of supervision, grounds maintenance & landscaping, natural resources, and outdoor recreation.
- Equestrian and livestock knowledge and care.
- Knowledge of equipment operation & repair.
- Clearly present and communicate information to varied audiences.
- Work and make decisions independently and as a team.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and administrative personnel.
- Drive and transport materials to different areas of the park and the surrounding area.
- Bend, stoop, climb, reach frequently; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
