Job Description:

Dates of Employment: Start date is negotiable and may run thru October 31, 2025

JOB DUTIES:
Assist Fisheries Division staff with field collections of fish community data on private & small community waters using boat electrofishing. Assist with evaluating fish stocking programs including Largemouth Bass, Rainbow Trout and Channel Catfish. Conduct angler use surveys on small community waters in SE Nebraska. Assist with outreach events such as Community Fishing Nights. Enter archival private waters information into a GIS-based database. Assist with stocking of private & small community waters as needed. Construct artificial fish habitat and install on community waters. Assist with equipment maintenance and other related responsibilities as assigned. Interactions with the public are common for this position. This position may require weekend work, and work in adverse weather conditions.


Requirements/ Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture. Driver's license required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: General knowledge of fisheries management techniques, common sportfish species in Nebraska and fishing techniques. Successful candidates should feel comfortable speaking to and communicating with the public via different platforms (social media, email, etc). Attention to detail and self-motivated; ability to follow instructions; ability to maintain simple records and complete surveys on a laptop or tablet; ability to operate hand and power tools (heated power sprayers); ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License; ability to operate a pickup.
