Job Description:

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for a passionate, collaborative, and detailed-oriented individual to join the Engineering and Operations team with emphasis in Capital construction and project coordination. Under administrative direction, in conjunction with the Division Administrator and Assistant Division Administrator this permanent fulltime supervisor position will be planning, directing, and coordinating construction projects to ensure compliance with contracts and approved plans and specifications on agency projects.
JOB DUTIES:

• Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and controls construction, capital improvements, maintenance, and repair projects for an agency.
• Reviews construction plans and specifications/blueprints for construction projects and determines scope of work, making field measurements and preparing cost estimates. Estimates labor, time, and materials for projects.
• Supervise, assign, and review work performance and/or products of staff with established standards to determine employee production levels and training needs and to recommend appropriate personnel actions.
• Coordinates and directs the development of capital construction projects, coordinating with agency staff, directing the consultant and contractors’ activities, and approve payment for work performed to ensure contract compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of budget for capital construction, renovation, and other projects by preparing cost estimates and schedules for approval and monitors expenditures during the projects life to control costs and expenditures.
• Maintains adequate records to sufficiently describe the work performed and to distribute such documentation as applicable.
• Travel will be required.

Requirements/ Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Post high school in Engineering, Architecture or construction and extensive experience in construction.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Budget development; personnel management; contract law; architectural/engineering principles and practices; bidding regulations and procedures; various building codes.
  • Coordinate various multi-trade functions working on a single project; communicate clearly both orally and in writing; plan, assign and supervise the work of others; document and maintain records.
  • Develop and monitor contracts for construction projects; establish and maintain good working relationships; identify problem areas; develop solutions; coordinate corrective actions; estimate costs; present technical information to others; negotiate; train others; develop and read blueprints, contracts, and specifications; use various computer systems, surveying and drafting equipment.
