Job Description:

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for a passionate, collaborative, and detailed-oriented individual to join the Engineering team with emphasis in diverse entry level engineering design. Under administrative direction, this permanent fulltime position will be assisting in designing, planning, directing, and coordinating construction projects in State Recreation, Wildlife Management Areas, State Trails, and State Fish Hatcheries across the state.
JOB DUTIES:

• Assists in the design, planning, and review of complex plans and specifications for construction and unique agency projects across the State of Nebraska.
• Prepares preliminary estimates and specifications. Attends various pre­construction planning meetings and conferences. Performs construction observation, resolving technical problems.
• Approves final punch list and completion of construction or capital improvement projects.
• Maintains adequate records to sufficiently describe the work performed and to distribute such documentation as applicable.

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline. Must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of: engineering theories, principles, practices and design; modern methods and techniques of construction, maintenance, and materials; legal responsibilities and ramifications associated with the work performed; practices and terminology of computer operation and AutoCAD; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); practical engineering concepts.

  • Ability to: interpret and implement State and federal laws and regulations, agency policies, and procedures; interpret, and explain engineering plans, and communicate with the public, contractors, consultants, agency staff at all levels, and local government officials.
