We currently have two Business System Manager openings statewide in Maine with hybrid remote work possible, including at other agency locations. Per current state policy, only applicants who reside or plan to reside in Maine will be considered for this position. Statewide travel may be required to meet with team members, colleagues, and other partners. This position will oversee both in-office and remote-working staff located throughout the state.
The Bureau of Unemployment Compensation is responsible for administering the unemployment insurance program and is currently looking for individuals tojoin our ReEmployME application team. Maine is a member of the multi-state ReEmployUSA Consortium. The ReEmployME system is our main case management application used to determine employer tax liability, employer unemployment insurance tax rates, and employer contributions, as well as to determine eligibility for unemployment insurance and the distribution of benefits.
The ideal candidate will have project management experience in (technical) projects. In addition to managing new projects, this position will also manage other maintenance and support tasks to ensure enhancements and fixes are implemented timely and according to a preset build schedule. Daily tasks will include directing vendor and bureau staff to define business requirements, protocols, and controls, addressing operational needs and resource priorities, assessing risk factors, and maintaining quality standards. Experience with the software development life cycle is a plus.
Additionally, this position provides managerial oversight of a multi- level training and application helpdesk team comprised of professional level staff.

An eight (8) year combination of education, training, and/or progressively responsible professional experience in project management, systems analysis, business analysis, or related field that demonstrates a thorough knowledge of systems improvement and project management concepts and the ability to develop and implement business plans. Experience must include at least two (2) years supervising teams and/or units.
