Job Title: Branch Supervisor

Reports to: Branch Manager

Location: Fairbanks, AK

Full Time

 

Basic Purpose:

Reporting to the Lab/Branch Manager, the Branch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing employees and ensuring the effectiveness of the production processes. They are responsible for the amount and quality of work done by the employees under their Supervision. The Branch Supervisor will also act as liaison between employees and hub lab, such as announcing new company policies or changes in work procedures to employees under their supervision as well as reporting to the Lab/Branch Manager about employee problems or issues.  This position also oversees employee scheduling and assists in both new hire selections and employee performance evaluations.

 

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

•          Direct supervision of all employees to ensure quality and production targets are met.

•          Set daily/weekly shift schedules and plan job task assignments to maintain high level of productivity.

•          Oversee and assist employee training, including new employees and maintaining current staff training.

•          Client Services, this includes tracking samples, production prioritization, reports, sample logistics, etc.

•          Assist with monthly inventories.

•          Make recommendations for valuable employees as well as disciplining and counselling poor performers.

•          Function as main client contact for the Branch facility in the absence of a Lab or Branch Manager

•          Assist in coordinating all maintenance and equipment repairs required for the branch facility.

•          Assist with completing incident investigation reports for any first aid injury, develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

•          Process samples as required by client submittals.

•          Communicate with hub lab and Lab/Branch Manager the sample flows being processed and shipped, as well as any mechanical, technical, or scheduling issues.

•          Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position.

•          Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)

•          Other duties or tasks as assigned or required from time to time

 

Skills and Knowledge:

•          Experience should be a minimum of 5 years’ training.

•          Education must be a minimum of college/university and/or equivalent experience.

•          Previous Supervisory or Management Experience is an asset 

•          Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and varied information systems

•          Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal

•          Strong work ethic with focus on working safely while completing all tasks in an organized and timely manner.

•          Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills

•          Valid Driving License with clean abstract

•          Able to work as part of a team and independently

• High level of work production in fast-paced lab environment

• Flexible working hours, overtime and shift work

• Changing priorities and balancing workload to meet tight deadlines

• Some lifting and carrying (up to 40 lbs) and may involve long periods of standing

• Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment

Hourly Rate: $28.50 (plus an additional premium for swing and night shift)
