Job Description:



The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a full-time Attorney to serve in the Professional and Financial Regulation Division headquartered in Augusta. The primary responsibilities of the AAG will be to provide legal counsel to the Office of Securities and various professional licensing boards within the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation.  This work involves investigating and prosecuting disciplinary complaints against licensed professionals, providing legal analysis and opinions on regulatory matters, performing agency rule review, defending agency decisions on appeal to the Superior Court, and enforcing agency orders in court. The position might include some criminal prosecutions.

Minimum Qualifications:


This is not an entry level position. The applicant must be a member of the Maine Bar in good standing, have an eye for legal detail, be interested in complex state regulation, have strong legal advocacy and writing skills, and have a demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team.  At least one year of relevant legal practice with demonstrated proficiency in administrative law and litigation is preferred.  Criminal prosecution experience is helpful but not required.
