JOB DESCRIPTION


The Office of the Attorney General has an opening for an Assistant Attorney General within the Litigation Division in the Augusta Office.  This position will focus on representing the Maine Department of Labor (MDOL) and providing MDOL with legal advice in connection with MDOL’s implementation, administration, and enforcement of the Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave Act, Chapter 7, Subchapter 6-C of Title 26 of the Maine Revised Statutes.  The legal services provided by this position may include, among other duties, reviewing rules and representing MDOL in litigation with respect to the Maine Paid Family and Medical Leave Act.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This is not an entry level position.  Applicants must be members of the Maine Bar in good standing, have an eye for legal detail, be interested in complex state and federal litigation, have strong legal advocacy and writing skills, and a demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team.  At least three years of legal practice with demonstrated proficiency in civil litigation is preferred.
