The Bureau of General Services (BGS) has a growing need for individuals with project management, design, and architectural or engineering skills.   Experience in the design and construction of renewable energy projects is a plus.  Grow your career as an architect or engineer while furthering the Governor’s mission to reduce the carbon footprint of the State’s operations.

As an Architect/Engineer for the Bureau of General Services, you will:

  • Manage major capital projects from initial planning through completion.
  • Develop design specifications, project plans, schedules, and cost estimates for building construction, alterations, and repairs to existing structures.
  • Manage the development, design and construction of energy conservation projects.
  • Inspect facilities, prepare reports and make recommendations for capital improvement projects.

  • Conducting and monitoring the procurement of State of Maine projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture or a bachelor's degree in Engineering and eight (8) years’ experience in the design and construction of buildings.

Preference will be given to applicants with a strong understanding of sustainable design, facilities operations, and energy conservation measures.  Minimum qualifications include eight years professional experience and licensure in the State of Maine as an Architect or Professional Engineer. 

 LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Licensure as an Architect issued by the Maine State Board for Licensure of Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers or licensure as a Professional Engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
