Job Description:

DESCRIPTION:

Nebraska Game and Parks is looking for a dynamic, passionate and collaborative individual to serve as the Administrative Specialist for Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area (SRA). This position will provide leadership, in collaboration with and under direct supervision of the Visitor Services Manager, with the goal of ensuring that all the SRA’s internal and external services, processes, procedures and outreach are accessible, welcoming, efficient and inclusive for all visitors. This position will assist park management in implementing the vision for the SRA, outlined in the Park’s Management Plan with a focus on visitor services to create an identity that elevates Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area as a unique and premier outdoor recreation destination.

JOB DUTIES:
• Provide for daily oversight and assistance with all Visitor Services programs including the Park Reservation System, Lake McConaughy Visitor and Water Interpretive Center, Park Volunteer Program, entrance stations, interpretation and education, business administration, special event planning, stakeholder and visitor relations, park social media platforms and assist with the management of the Park’s Commercial Services Program.
• Perform office duties at park office and oversee work of clerical support staff to ensure completion of tasks.
• Act as the Park’s internal leader on the Reservation System, by implementing established policies and providing day to day management of the system.
• Implement fiscal management including revenue generating activities, park resale, budget oversight and procurement under adherence to all state fiscal policies. Provide technical reports to park and agency management upon request and provide for the tracking of visitor use information at the SRA.
• Implement established customer service policies and provide continuous improvement for the Park’s interactions with visitors and area stakeholders, including operations of the Park’s Visitor Center, entrance booths, volunteer programs and visitor services staff.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research or similar fields in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.

Other: Additional training upon employment may be assigned. A valid driver’s license is required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing work assigned, office management and record keeping methods and practices, administrative report preparation practices, research and administrative survey techniques, and business computer and communication systems.
  • File, maintain, and retrieve records using established computer systems, handle multiple tasks, and operate computer, reservation, and POS systems.
  • Interact with immediate supervisor and senior managers, employees and the public to gain their cooperation and to establish work relationships.
  • Formulate and recommend modifications to operational directives to attain agency goals.
  • Apply management practices, techniques, and methodologies to assigned activities.
  • Collect, assemble, and analyze facts and draw conclusions to recommend solutions to problems.
  • Organize and present facts and opinions to managers and groups.
  • Learn the structure, functions, goals and policies of the employing agency.
  • Ability to be flexible with hours and work weekends and holidays.
