Job Description:

Our team helps build an appreciation of Nebraska’s natural resources, builds support for our agency mission, and encourages people to participate in outdoor recreation. Essential Job Duties
Draft, manage and monitor division budget and spending plan with division leadership.
Run fiscal analysis to forecast staffing and operating budget spending and authority.
Analyze monthly and quarterly budget status reports to advise management team and staff on budget status.
Monitor status of division’s contracts, renewals, billing and invoicing.
Ensure appropriate coding for division expenditures for compliance.
Manage division purchasing processes along with agency buyers to oversee requisitions and purchase orders.
Collaborate with agency budget and fiscal, federal aid, and other staff as needed. Maintain records for the division including expenses logs, vehicle mileage reports, time logs, and annual reporting needs.
Provide excellent customer service to agency staff and the public.
Provide administrative support of the division including directing phone calls or inquiries to appropriate staff.
Manage administrative support all staff and provide oversight of mailroom and distribution center staff.
Provide guidance to staff regarding administrative policies, purchasing and timekeeping.
Maintain detailed records of budgets, invoices, purchase logs, federal reports and all files needed for fiscal management.
Provide occasional administrative support for Nebraskaland Magazine, other agency divisions as needed.
Support agency mission of providing access, opportunity and stewardship of Nebraska’s natural resources including working at occasional outreach and educational events.


Requirements/ Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, accounting or any discipline related to the work assigned. One year of experience in planning, organizing, and implementing program administrative or business financial functions. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field.

  • Two or more years of related experience.

  • Related professional work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.

  • Occasional nights and weekends required. Travel within the state may be required.

  • Valid driver's license required.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Effective supervisory management skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to track projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use software necessary to manage budgets through spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Familiarity with marketing and communications processes preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain relationships with colleagues, partners, staff, and volunteers.
