The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill an Accounting Associate II vacancy at their Augusta Headquarters location.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The incumbent will be a critical member of the team managing the financial resources of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. As an Accounting Associate II, you will support professional staff charged with developing business and internal controls to ensure proper accountability of fiscal and administrative operations. This includes reviewing, reconciling and processing receipts of revenue from agency agents and front desk sales daily and preparing deposits of these revenues. You will interpret and apply accounting theory and principles and adapt procedures and reporting techniques to ensure compliance with governing laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
The incumbent must have the ability to review, revise, verify and/or adjust financial documents as they relate to revenues generated by the agency. In this position, you will support professional staff who consult with agency program managers and internal/external financial staff to identify business needs, compliance issues, and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and skilled in conducting research, gathering information to prepare reports and analyze results to recommend conclusions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices to perform complex work in assisting taxpayers on complex tax matters, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Accounting Assistant and Accounting Associate I.
